I found a really nice 1972 Duster 340 4spd, manual steering and disc brakes. Y1 yellow and black interior. The needs total resto, but is fairly complete. It is sporting the original paint and interior. Some light rust at the lower 1/4's. Overall decent. The seller is asking $5500.00

Is this high? Seems like too much, not sure.

Thanks

Hard to say Michael without pictures, but if everything is there and only minor rust I'd say it's a good price. Get underneath and check the frame rails and inner fenders for rot and the back end where the leaf spring shackles bolt up.

Demon seed brings up a good point, check the frame, floors for rot..If they look ok, i think its a very fair price for a numbers matching car.

Yeah good idea. I am still just emailing back and forth. Hopefully I can check it out this weekend. Will keep everyone posted. From the pics I do have it's pretty freakin cool. Yellow is a nice high impact color.

If you're going to do as i did and take it completly down you may want to try and get it for less or buy a lesser car, however that engine/tranny combo is good property and the 72 tailite is a one yr only. I like mine.

I got a couple pics to share. I am going to go check it out this weekend.

Well i finally spoke with the owner and he told me the car is in AZ. So I don't get to check it out yet. I might trade the Dart for it. Well if he give me some cash plus the Duster. Also the block is a '73 not a '72 and it's missing some manifolds. blah blah blah.

The guy owns 30+ Mopar in various stages. When I w2as talking to him he was at the 66 Cruise in San Bernardino, Ca tonight.

We'll see what's up

I bought a 73 Dart with numbers matching 340 with a sunroof a while back didnt pay 1/5th of that, but still a decent fair price for what it is. Good find, I like that color combo!

I seen that car early this week and was ready to go buy it. It was listed in Rancho Cucamonga, but I was kind of turned off when I found out is was not numbers matching was in Arizona and had been modified a bit. I thought it would have been a good deal if it was orignal just needing restoration.

The way I see it is a decent 340 car goes for around $15,000 and you could spend that real fast on this car and not even have it painted.

Still kind of cool8)

Too much for what it is turning out to be. Not a numbers matching car, not a big block, not original sheet metal. I bought an original #s matching triple black running 72 3 yrs ago when economy was better than now for $2500. It has a 318 but there shouldn't be more that $2000 in difference in the motors and tranny.
