This old car has 59,400 original miles on it (I've put the last 200 on her)! Gonna do filters, plugs and put a kit in the carb this weekend. The car runs pretty good to have set for six years and actually seems to run better the more I drive it! Should I take the time to look at the TC&G or just go ahead and replace it (I'm pretty sure it is the original one)! Thanks!

I can't think of a good reason to replace the timing set just on speculation, not with that low mileage. Go ahead and check it (no disassembly required), but I doubt if you'll find much slack in it.

Keep in mind a low-miles '73 may still have the original not-very-good ignition module that can make random hard/no start conditions. You can put in a new module or, better, do the HEI upgrade .

My 71 was a 67,000 mile easy life car when I got it. I did the timing gears as the front cover seal was leaking. They were in great shape with nil chain stretch. glad I had to do the seal and didn't just dig in to do the gears.

Highly recommend Mikes carb parts for the rebuild. Very good quality.
