good morning, my new to me 73 duster is missing the headliner, i assume it takes the one piece liner. My question is for someone that has done a one piece liner, did you use the ABS or the fiber board piece, pros and cons of each and can you recommend a vendor, i would appreciate any info you can provide, i did use the search feature here and got some good info but was hopeing to hear from someone that has done one recently.. thanks for any and all help...Rich...BTW..My 73 will not be a show car but a nice clean driver type of car

I have an ABS headliner in my 74 Duster. It is pretty good but the fit around the windshield was not ideal. If you could ever find an original, I'd consider just reinforcing any bad spots with duct tape etc. And covering it with a thin vinyl from a fabric shop. I think the fit would be better that way.

Thanks Cley, where did you purchase the ABS liner ?
I’m leaning towards the ABS too, I’m hearing that the repop fiber board ones are really flimsy.. what about the fit around the windshield that you didn’t like, was it too big ?

I purchased the ABS headliner from a local guy so no help there but I'm sure there is only one place making them. Along the windshield it was too big and needed to be trimmed. Same around the rear window. It can be made to look good, I guess I was naively expecting a perfect fit!

thanks 89, does this sound right? im thinking about getting the ABS one without the foam/vinyl so i can trim it to fit , once its looking good i will pull it out and have my upholstry guy cover it with whatever fabric i choose...

It's pretty easy to do yourself, you just lay it on there as if and fold up one half spray both sides with adhesive and roll it back down and then pick up the other half and spray it and roll it back down and then just cut it one inch longer all the way around and the next day flip it over and spray that one inch hanging over and pull it over... Or you could pay someone to do it...

I’m asking about a metal trim piece not DMT gaskets or weatherstripping

Yes there's one metal piece connecting the plastic a pillar and rear sail panel. It goes directly over the door. I thought I seen someone here had those for sale. Check the for sale or I should say interior for sale parts... It shouldn't be that hard to get used and you can paint them any color you want is there metal and easy..
I just sold an entire plastic set with door cards all in great condition for $250 recently...

Thanks Jpar that’s what I was thinking.. are they 73 specific? Or will 70-72 ones fit? And do they hold up the one piece headliner or are they there just for cosmetic reasons.. thanks Rich

I agree with @j par , it's easy enough to do yourself. I would get the bare plastic one as well!
