I have a 1974 Dart that has a 318 and a 904 transmission. I lost drive and reverse in the transmission. The 318 has just been rebuilt. So I'm wondering what would be the best way to go? Should i get the 904 rebuilt, or should is there any late model transmissions that will bolt up to that 318. The 318 is from the 74 dart if that matters for the bell housing.

The later model overdrive units will bolt up to the engine but won't clear the tunnel in an A-body. Unless your up to a bunch of work cutting and enlarging the trans tunnel and building a new crossmember your best off having the 904 rebuilt.
