I recently acquired my 1974 Plymouth duster, I used a few websites to decode it but a lot is so wishy washy. Figured I’d leave it to the pro’s on here to decode it!

It’s a very late build 1974 model year with a production build date of July 17 (717). They generally switched over to making the next model year in August.

Why is that odd?

1974 model year cars were in showrooms in September 1973

Post what you have from the decoders...

so far I gathered black interior, kb5 blue paint, 360 engine, 727 trans, interior hood release, power steering, disc brakes, and that’s about it. I’m not sure on stripes etc

MyMopar.com has a bunch of decoding information, and it's free. Offhand, N41 is dual exhaust, but no N42 for the chrome tips. R11 is the music master AM radio. Experts will chime in shortly. Cool color, too.

Just wanted to let you know, I owned one of these cars that was well taken care of & in very original condition with a 4 speed. (Wish I didn't sell it, pretty rare car) Anyway, it was an AWESOME car & faster than people think, because it was a "74", so good luck with it.

Thats awesome, thanks for sharing that. I 100% agree this car goes really strong down the road!

That’s big!! Thank you man. Much appreciated. I’ll go take a close look at the missing code, everything so far on this list is correct on the car! Very happy about that (with exception on the stripes. The car has no stripes on it at all currently)

I think E58 is 360HP engine, not 340. Maybe just a typo?

Yep, copy and pasted

Yeah that’s what I’m saying, some decoders are just wishy washy and throw a curve ball like that. That’s why I’m here inquiring a little bit more confirming every option & running down a checklist. So far everything’s correct on the car. Wich I’m very happy about

3rd row KB5 is Roof color. Car is solid color B5 If it was a full black vinyl roof car it would have V1X there instead.

G52 is left outside non racing remote mirror

Car isn't a Chrager so the "C" in the seat code is not Charger. nothing but a coding level like f or H prior.

ok thank you, do you know what stripes the V8x & v6x stripes are?

side and tail stripe between tail lights

Perfect thank you, well guys that’s really it! Everything’s accounted for on this car. Once it’s cleaned up & the paint buffed/corrected in a few spots I’ll post up some pictures.

I can't make out the last number by the rusted screw, but I do know that V88 is a stripe delete code.

It’s a very late build 1974 model year with a production build date of July 17 (717). They generally switched over to making the next model year in August.

The very high sequence number (513,000+) supports this. One of the last 74s.
