Rare one year only 1976 Dodge Dart Sport Lite sold as a 30+mpg highway mileage car and probably less than 1,000 were produced. The 1976 Dodge Dart Lite and its brand cousin 1976 Plymouth Feather Duster used aluminum to lighten the car by a couple of hundred pounds, the Lite only special aluminum parts include the intake manifold, front and rear bumper bracing, and hood and trunk skins. The carburetor and distributor were special to this model only and tuned for maximum fuel economy. The 225-cu.in. Slant Six engine was mated to aa A-833 four-speed manual transmission with 0.73:1 overdrive, which turned a 2.94:1 final drive rear axle. When ordered with the Lite package, the overdrive transmission also featured an aluminum case. A larger-than-stock-diameter exhaust and v8 converter helped engine efficiency, and even the engine block itself was lighter and used a lighter cast crankshaft.
All of the original Lite parts are present and original to the car. The car has over 114K miles, but does run and drive. The engine does not smoke, no strange noises, and the transmission shifts smoothly. The right front suspension needs repair (possible inner lower control arm mount on K member problem) and I do not recommend driving it until it is repaired. It can be driven and loaded onto a trailer The manual disc brakes have been rebuilt and there is a new gas tank and new tires and the original wheels were powdered coated. There is no accident damage, but there is some rust in the front floors and trunk pan, there was also previous poor rust repair in the rear lower rear quarters. The interior is in poor shape due to sitting outside for years. A correct 1976 front grill was also restored and is installed.
The car is worth more in parts than my asking price. Car is located 20 miles east of Helena, Montana.
*For a full price offer ($1500) I will include a 1978 360 V8 bare block (no heads or rods) and a brand new Mopar 408 stroker crank. For an additional $200 I will also include a pair of 1975-76 white A-body bucket seats with mounts in good condition.
