How do you guys trigger your 2-step limiters in your auto trans cars? I'm trying to decide between a brake pressure switch and a momentary switch mounted on the side of the brake pedal.

The only thing I don't like about the pressure switch idea is that I wouldn't want to trigger it on the big end. I guess I could use the line-lock button on the shifter in series with the pressure switch, but that sounds a little busy. I'd like to simplify it as much as possible. How do you guys do it?

I used a stock flasher switch to arm mine . Looks stock on dash as long as the looker doesn’t know how many switches a 69 Dart came with . Or they can’t count…lol

That's a good idea! My blinker switch will still be operational as it's for a street car.

I was looking at my shifter (B&M pro ratchet) and think I can rig up another microswitch that triggers only for first gear. That wired in series with a second brake light switch should do the job and ensure it's not triggered in the shut down at the track.

I run a Daytona Sensors CD-1 ignition which has 3 limiters .
Max rpm , burn out rpm and launch . It will also datalog , trigger nitrous and a myriad of other things .

Pressure switch will react the best, button on brake pedal not some much.
Thank you. You mean something like this? Wilwood Disc Brakes 300-11181 Wilwood Stop Light Pressure Switches | Summit Racing. Is this the type you use?

Is the thought that a typical brake switch at the pedal needs more travel in the pedal in order to open the switch than a pressure switch?

I also ended up modifying my shifter to accept another microswitch so the 2-step will only activate in first gear. I'm hoping this will work out well.

Does anyone know if a pressure switch like this will activate if it's installed in the rear brake line? I.e., will the line pressure be high enough in the rear line?

I want to avoid installing it on the front line because I don't want it activated during a burn out with the line lock applied.

I was going to call Willwood to see what pressure it activates at and see what they say.

I ended up going with the Wilwood switch and wired it in line with the 1st gear micro switch on the shifter. I put it in the rear line so it's not activated when the line lock is applied. Hopefully this does the trick.

What shifter are you using? i would like to see the switch and how you set it up.

It's a B&M Pro Ratchet. I added another switch that's "normally closed." Then I disassembled it and cut a hole for a 1st gear detent that activates the switch in 1st gear only (and w/ the brakes applied).

If it works perfectly will you put a parts list together please ? lol.
I know absolutely nothing about electronics and don't even know where to start, to learn it.

I have mine wired to the button on my shifter and it it also activates the line lock at the same time. Both release when I let off the button. So far, I've only used it on the street for fun and not had a chance to try it at a track.

Totally. I'm an electronics bonehead too, so if it works I'll have to have a celebratory beer or four.
