2026 Power Tour—- Mopars on the Mother Road?

-
All quiet in McClean other than some burnouts encouraged by the local mayor and police chief.
Mayor was really cool, a car enthusiast granted it’s just an old Mustang. But between him; the hotel owner with the shotgun and the local cops, no issues with thieves or vandals.

We’re off to St Louis.

Yeah not much goes on around there .. as compared to Joliet, McLean is a night and day difference other than the Dixie truck stop it's pretty much an old school farm town .

Just saw on the news about the stolen cars. News said all vettes and camaros 4 stolen and 4 broken into. I went to school just down the road from there where they were taken from. They found one of the vettes about 25 miles away that had hit a tree. Silver, newer vette/ but not the newest style of them. Saw it on 2 local tv news shows about an hour ago

Sad part is Illinois won’t prosecute them. Hell they won’t even arrest them.
Our room neighbor in McLean was in that hotel, he had the orange vette that had the window broken out. that’s what supposedly the cops told him

Z06 stolen from the Joliet hotel where we stayed.

I spoke to a witness, they pulled up in a Z06, probably stolen, started the Z06 in the lot, and moved on to the Challenger.

On the Challenger, disabled the horn, broke the window, couldn't get it started (reprogram a blank key fob).

All within a few minutes.

The owner of the Z06 drove out with a few friends, and two other Z06s were stolen from them on the same night, different hotels.

One of those Z06s was wrecked the next day.
I didn't read the news article, so don't know if anyone was caught.

Next day, I spoke to another Challenger owner who knew the guy with the one that wasn't stolen.

He said the owner popped the hood and his buddies asked what he was doing, pulling some fuse to prevent it from starting.
They laughed at him.

He just has a broken window.

All this is what was told to me.
There's info on Facebook and a few news stories.

I brought this to the attention of the Z06 and Challenger owners at our hotel on the next night, suggesting we all park parallel or some other fashion, or block off a section of the lot, something.

1 Challenger owner blocked his car in by parking it in a strange way and using a friend's lame 6 cylinder Camaro.

Nope they passed a law a few years ago "no cash bail". The laws here definitely favors the bad guys... Screw the honest guy.

I finally got that first manifold done yesterday on that miserable Ford v10 and now working on the other side all while you guys have fun haha.
Well keep having fun...

Wish I could have been there
How much rain did you guys have from st Louis onward
When it rained in Joliet I got a little (not as much as them) 30 some miles away from the track where you guys all met up/ but in the week since almost 4" there's standing water in fields all around here 10 or so miles either north or south of me so they got even more there ... Went thru peotone last night where many of you guys stayed and there were lakes on either side of I-57 in that area...

Just a couple light showers in Springfield.after that, None during the route during the day between St Louis and Tulsa

Hope you had a blast! I know we did!
Definitely.

Had to get the kid back home asap.
Left Tulsa Raceway and drove back to St Louis

As far as driving, Friday was the equivalent of 3 Power Tour days.

Next morning, woke up at 5:14, made a few stops, as well as a series of unfortunate events, arrived home at 4:45am the next day, coming in at 30mins shy of 24hrs.

My clutch leg was getting a workout throughout the tour, but my 'gas' leg may have exceeded that.

We just now got back, we hit Adrian Texas then turned back and got caught up in tornadoes and had to take shelter in Kansas. Resulting in a 14 hour cannonball run home. We just got home about an hour ago

Just over 2300 miles total, back home safe and sound. Only had to add 1/3 quart of engine oil toward the end. The Dart ran well, and thankfully gave no surprises. The new ESPO springs were great with it loaded down. My teenage sons and I had a great time!

Abodywgn,
You should have come out, there were 2 days of it that were not terribly far from you. Spectators were free.
