Found another topic that this should work. Without having the cluster out (and its currently 0 outside so quite cold in the garage) I think the dimensions should be okay. I should be able to use the OE knob, I already modified it to use a set screw to hold in place instead of the original clip. Guess these are whats used on most semis and RVs (there are some different variations), but generally they all have "2-speed" wiper motors. Then it's all in one switch and may "theorietically" look stock.

I'm planning to Long Hau
Good, I remember talking to you briefly and then later seeing someone backed into your green Duster. Hopefully you are well on your way to getting that squared away. You have a lot longer drive home that I do!

Already talked to the guy who had the gold colored 71 Slant Six Duster from Louisianna and he was booking hotels already.

I may have PTSD about driving on I-80 near Joliet after last year's rock incident. I hit one of those big road bed rocks with nowhere to go. My 6-speed crossmember is dented and so is part of the left rear footwell but it didn't do enough damage for me to do anything. That and I have to load the trunk before I leave to make sure the leaf spring clamps won't rub on the exhaust the entire time like last year.

Who lives along the route this year?

Any sites to see, places with great food, car shows, evening cruise-ins?

Not looking for who's going Long Haul from wherever, or for negative feedback.
That's another thread.
I posted a new thread that was merged with this thread because it was "similar."

Mine began with Post #9.

I created a new thread specifically to keep it focused on the route, and identify all places of interest.

Wipers, bugs, and Rain X fit right into that.

Can't wait for the, it's a waste of time not as good as x years ago why pay $ to have fun posts.

One thing I plan on taking a minor detour since its unlikely its on the route is to stop in the ghost town of Pitcher, OK. If you want to find the whole story its easy to find online. Probably going to be 2-5 miles off the normal route since I can virtually guarantee we're going through Baxter Springs, KS, and Commerce, OK.

I plan to just take a quick drive through downtown East St Louis just because I've visited most of the really run down cities in the US and just like that type of stuff.

have a link to that thread? I'd like to help coordinate a FABO convoy, My plan is to go the distance as of right now. I'll pick up with the tour on 7 June, ride with the tour along the "official" hot rod power tour route. Then strike out west towards Santa Monica. Time will be the limiting factor for me so I'm hoping to complete the Tulsa to LA trip in 7 days, then a 3-4 day drive back VIA I40 and a cannonball type run. My plan is to drive 250-300 miles each day on route 66. I've planned reservations that far apart. Minimum, I'm hoping to at least make it as far west as Roswell, New Mexico. My oldest daughter has gotten into the alien thing.

I've seen st louis so I figure I'll hit the chain of rocks bridge and truck south towards my old stomping grounds at Fort lost in the woods.

Well I got my long haul pass now. $235 this year. Gold and Platinum are already sold out.
Yeah I saw that. 7 minutes if what I saw is accurate . It’s going to be epically large this year. I’ll be making damn sure my cooling system is up to par before leaving.

For sure, though last year the traffic jamming wasn't really bad at all at the events. The worst place for me was day 3 in Lowell, IN, and some spots on US-30. I ran almost the entire official route last year. Contour Fan and Champion 26" radiator has always done me well.

I'm investigating adding pulse wipers, I think I have an easy way, the stuff should show up Friday so we'll see, and then working out some minor stuff, messy wiring under the hood in a spot, cleaning up grounds to get rid of electrical noise, etc. Also replacing the grille which I still need to paint the new one.

My plan, regardless of the official route, is to run as much of the original alignment as possible. I know there's a dozen or more realignments in its history through IL so I'm gonan try to hit the best ones. And I definitely will be hitting the Dwight gas station in Dwight IL
That's about 25 miles straight west of me

Sweet! I may have to try to meet up then. I’m having a custom banner made for this and going to try to get as many Mopar peeps as possible to sign. Maybe a few brand Xers too lol

I've had this sticker on my windows forever, initially thought maybe someone would recognize it last year.

Problem is the windows are always down, probably why the sticker looks like new.
