273/318 torque converter question

I should already know this, but just in case I forgot....

I know a 273 torque convertoer behind a 318 needs the snub/hub adaptor to center it correctly in the 318 crank....

My question and absent mindedness is this: Can I put a 69 318 torque converter in the 65 904 behind the 318? If so, no need for the funky spacer.... I have a good 904 converter that was in my Fury before I swapped to the 727....

No, the convertor is different on both ends.

Thanks Okla - So a 904 to 904 converter is different from 65 to 69 on the trans side as well as the engine side?

Yep. They changed both the spline count and hub size in 68.
