What year was the last 273 put in vehicles? Was there any put in 68 sattilite B bodies and if so any idea how many.

The 273 motor was a option up to 69 in the USA,in canada even later,as well as the poly motor. Now the satelite has many styles and models and i could tell you that i have a listing for satelites with a 273 motor, but i would need the serial number to tell you if that car could come with a 273.Some models did not have that motor as a option? Some models have a listing of three differnt 273 motors to install.I have 2 pages of satelite models to chose from and am scanning them now to build a file to send you if you wish?Email me at penstarperformance@videotron.ca with your VIN and I can tell you right away.Mrmopartech

Many years ago I owned a '68 Satellite 4 door that was powered by a 273. I knew the history of the car since it was new so I know it was the original engine. I took the engine out and put it in a Petty Blue 340 Demon that had a blown 340. The Demon was one of the cars I have always regretted selling.

Tech: I don't own the car but could if i feel it's worth my time. My thought if it wasn't a rare car was to do a GTX clone. 68 was one of my favorite years for the B body but this would be for my son in law. My daughter needs some space.

At least post the VIN number to decode the car.The fifth digit is the engine code and it should be a D,for a 273.If its some thing else, post it and we will tell you.The first four digits tell you the car and how it can limited to the engine of chioce. Some models allow this motor, other models only these two motors, and so on.mrmopartech

Kind of along these lines, I had a '69 Fury III with a 273 in it. Now if you look at the books it will tell you that a 273 was not available in the Fury in the US in '69 and the vin said the car was a 318 car. So I thought that someone had put the 273 in the car. I found out it was a 273 when I took the heads off to do a valve job. Before doing this I fully expected a 318 after checking the vin when I bought the car. So I check the front of the block and it was stamped 273, I checked the casting... 273. Then I remembered that in '69 Mopar stamped the vin in the blocks so I thought I would see what car the 273 came out of, guess what I found... the vin on the block matched the vin on the car someone at the factory grabbed a 273 instead of a 318 and put it in the car. So it is or was (since I scrapped the car) probably 1 of 1 produced. I still have the motor in my garage because it is just a good little engine. I have had it in numberous vehicles as a second string engine while the original engine is being rebuilt. I just recently took it out of an '85 W350 pickup.
