I have been searching and searching but still have some questions. I am considering going with the Mopar 2800# springs No. 863/864 for my 67' original slant 6 (now 383) Dart. This will be a 80% street car. I don't mind if the ride is a little stiff, I do want it to hook, but I really dont want the car WAY up high or to sit unlevel.

Does anyone have any experiance with this springs?? Are they softer than the 002/003 springs? I read some where the spring rates for the 863/864 are the same as the 002/003 springs, which I believe is 165. If so.. then what is the difference?

Other than adjusting the torsion bars in an attempt to level the car, what other options are there?

Also any idea of how high these will raise the car? I am not even sure where stock height is, since my springs are arching the wrong way it this point.

Any help would be great..

Thanks Bryan

you are correct on them being the same spring rate as the 002/003's...as far as the differences between the two im not sure..you could try lowering blocks in the rear to help lower the back down...from what i see it seems like most ss springs will raise the car about 1.5" or maybe more???could be wrong

Unless you are planning on drag racing I would get 2 of the same springs and not different ones.

I bought P3412002 and P3412003 for my 63 /6 dart and now the car sits lower on the drivers side.

I would get 2 passenger side springs P3412002. But that is just my opinion.

you'll defeat the whol purpose of the ss springs by doing that...the reason the passenger side sits higher is to control torque wrap under hard acceleration...its done by having an extra leaf in there...if you just want a stock replacement with a stiffer spring rate i would go with XHD leafs instead...the ss springs arent cheap and if you arent gonna use them for what they were designed for then if i were you id save my money

Ok.... I guess i don't understand... Everything you say there points away from SS springs.

You want XHD springs.

Do it once, do it right. XHD springs will hook just fine.

Many F.A.S.T class cars are pulling good 60' times on 40 year old springs and a pinion snubber.

Where do I find XHD springs?? How much are they for a set.. I thought the 2800's were about as cheap as I could find.

Thanks Bryan

Another option is the oval track springs. Mopar Perf sells a couple of different oval track springs that will fit an A body if you replace the hangers. Talk to the guys at Firm Feel, they install the oval track springs on a lot of cars. I make a spring hanger, part number AR118, that allows the Mopar oval track springs to bolt into an A body car.
