From a discussion on another thread about the performance difference of a 318 with a 4bbl with stock cam, and 4bbl with a mild cheaper cam, there was a bit of difference in opinions of how a cam would affect a 318, without porting of heads, etc...... A clip was posted of a 0-60 before and after the 600 holley and headers swap.

The difference a cam makes from stock, is amazing, to prove my point, I weighed my wifes 88 Ramcharger with 3.23 gears with a stock rebuild 70 220HP 318, with (I had to dig stuff up from 98 for this motor) a Wolverine Blue racer 260/270, 420/434 lift cam. The pistons were .010 in the hole. Heads are stock, not ported, with stock manley valves. Intake is the 220HP 318/273 single plane 2bbl, with the BBD carter. I opened the jets up one size, and put in a yellow edelbrock spring for tuning to compensate the cam. It is literally, a stock 318 from a 70 power wagon, with a cam, right down to the tiny restrictive manifolds....

Ramcharger weighed in at 4340 on PRUHS certified scales, then I did the 0-60. Because I had one hand on my phone, I left it in drive, even with the 2bbl, the motor was still making power at the 3600 RPM shift. It runs even quicker revved to 4700 in 1st gear. (obviously) :toothy10::toothy10::toothy10::toothy10::toothy10::toothy10::toothy10:
