Hey everyone, I recently bought an edelbrock 1405 carb for my 1987 318 d100. It’s currently got the stock 2 barrel carburetor. I got the intake manifold and all that stuff but now I’m wondering about throttle and kickdown. Can I reuse my stock throttle and kickdown? If I need adapters what ones do I buy? Also I need springs… I’m not a professional by any means but I’d like to get it done on a weekend when I’m home from university. Let me know if you guys have any advice! Thanks!

Use the Edelbrock Mopar 4bbl throttle linkage bracket too.

you'll need the throttle lever for the carb to adapt it to mopar.

your throttle cable *should* be long enough, but you may want to get a specific 4bbl unit that is longer.

the transmission kickdown can be modified to work, or i'd recommend switching it to an aftermarket cable actuated one.

OR two birds with one stone: get an aftermarket throttle and kick down cable set up. you'll still need the throttle lever for the carb tho.

The throttle arm adapter is good but you can also drill out one of the holes.

You can get a kickdown rod extender (a piece that is half rod half nut). There’s info on here.

4bbl throttle bracket is good but not necessary

Easiest is to order all the stuff, but what you have can be modified if you like headaches

I always just use the 2 bbl linkage, but I'm not afraid to end the bracket a little, and use a short bolt/nut to take up a little slack in the kickdown linkage and a small extension for the carb cable
Here are 2 videos that may help

I made the 2 bbl linkage work, and bought a new kickdown rod. Spending a few bucks is cheap insurance over messing up a transmission.
