when my car is in gear, with the foot on the brake, the car will lunge forward. with that in mind, the motor is out of the car, just had a buddy put a new gasket set on, he didnt get any internal info for me like he was supposed to, and i dont have a tach. because of wiring issue. I dont know jack about the motor.should i need a stall convertor for a 318/727 combo? a few guys on here think there could be something wrong? im looking for some more in-depth input? Thanks

What does the car idle at? Does the car run and shift fine? What are you going to use the car for?

so does mine. but it is all where the idle/ timing is set at. for instance, if i advance my timing and the rpms pick up, and i dont back off the curb idle, when i put it in gear, the car wants to lunge forward . same goes with the timing backed off and the curb idle up. i advance my timing and then back the idle off to around 700-750 rpms and the car idles in gear at around 500 rpms and does not want to lunge forward.
