318 build up

on my last post i was considering either a 340 or a 440 and got some suggestions to just build up my 318 for now. i have a stock 1974 2 brl 318. i have headers and a set of 302 heads to put on it. from what i am told those 302 heads should bring my compression ratio up over 9 to 1. i was wondering what intake and carb works best with these heads. i also wanted to know what you guys thought i should go with for a cam. i was looking at xtream energy 454 lift 268 duration. can i go bigger do you think or is that about the limit for this combination.

You may want to check with http://hensleyperformance.com/. They have a 318 power pak, I think that is what its called. It includes intake, 4bbl carb, stock heads that have been worked, and I think new cam for around $1200 to $1400.

I think if you re-read the last few weeks, there's been a ton on this subject...lol. I liek the small port Performer on a 318. Not the RPM or air gap. Just p[ort match the thing with the heads, and you'll have a nice runner. I think you could go larger, but not too much more without starting to give up some on the drivability.
