318 diesel ?

What would make my 1972 318 sound like a diesel ? At idle ?

How "built" is it? could be no oil pressure and the lifters are chattering,as stated timing or bad fuel.Make sure it full of oil first then good gas then go pull the timing back.Really need more info on the engine.

That's classic Lance.....do they have those for [email protected] cams...lol.

To the OP, Hope it's not bearings. Timing extremes can make it sound a little crazy, but since it starts i'd lean toward extremely retarded. Post us up a vid/sound clip and someone will figure it out.

i would say 5 pounds of oil pressure with a 30 weight oil with piss water fuel would almost be enough

I think it must have the flugal valve stuck or the flugal valve needs a new spring.
