Hey all,

Haven't been around for a while, must admit, my VW (Subaru conversion) and big diesel whose brand shall remain nameless have been keepin' me busy.

However, recently picked up a new to me Mopar.

1981 D250 ex-Millitairy, engine rebuilt at Xmass, rings, seals, valves, the whole bit. Eddie performer cam, intake with a Holly single 600 on top. Basically I bought it for the engine.

My Dart has a 318 also, 80-84 truck engine (by the engine code, origionally /6 but with correct compensating motor mounts).

The Dart has a 904, the D250 a 727 (I'm assuming...) any probs in swapping the two, anything I wanna look out for?

I'm worried about header studs...a few look like they didn't survive the rebuild well on the Eddie'd engine. One cylinder has a header leaking and others are double gasketted....

Would pics help?

TIA

David

im not sure about the engine im thinking it should be the same but not %100.

The 727 is longer then the 904 and you will need to get a shorter drive shaft. Im not sure about the mounts on the trans.

pics can never hurt, you never know.

Not A-body specific info, but I once swapped a 727 from an early 70's New Yorker (? I think....it was a big Mopar of some kind) for the 904 in my Volare.

Had to have a shorter driveshaft made out of the one that came with the 727. The converter that came with the 727 was very low stall speed. The speedometer gear in my car didn't work on the 727...never did fix that. Everything else bolted up fine.

hey thanks for your input guys,

Sorry I wasn't very clear, I'll be leaving the respective transmissions in each car.

So th 727 stays in the truck and the 904 in the Dart (the 727 would need my tunnel modifying on the Dart I think...)

I'm most worried about the header stuff....

I'll post some pics in the process.
