hey guys,
i'm doing a 318 to a 360 swap, i am running an automatic and i have a stall converter that i ran with the 318 i was told that i need to buy a new stalll converter and flexplate for the 360.. i realize that i need to buy a 360 flexlate but do i really need a different stall? if anyone has done this swap personally please let me know what you did! thanks

Brian

I believe the 360 is balanced differently than the 318. So the converter wouldn't work without being balanced for the 360. Don't know if there is a bolt pattern difference.

You'll need a 360 flexplate like what B&M makes... 10236 (727) or 10239 (904) come to mind. The b&m flexplate balances the assembly to use a neutral balance converter like on the 318. It has a half-moon cut out of the flexplate.

The converter will work, will likely stall a bit higher do to extra torque a 360 generally makes. If you liked the way it acted with the 318, you'll likely be OK with the 360. Unless you are changing from a 727 to 904 or vise-versa, no problem using what you have.
