Guys,
Just put in a Mcloed clutch, very stiff. Brewers said it was stock. How stiff were the swinger 340 clutches? As compared to regualr car.

Also, what type of grease do use on the z bar's plastic bushings, mine are binding.

Any help appreciated.

Anthony

Stock 340 clutches are much stiffer than the typical 1980's up clutches. Like today's clutches have no resistance at all. Much of it is the return spring!

As far as lubing the pivot point, etc almost anything could be used, spray some liquid wrench, PBLaster, WD40 in there. Or some white lithium, or graphite spray. hard to grease with lube grease unless you disassemble.

Did they tell you to take out the over center spring under the dash?? I put in the Center Force package.........not stiff at all

I use WHITE LITHIUM grease on all my Z BAR swivel points with the plastic bushings.

I thought the overcenter spring helps to pull the pedal down and make stiff clutches easier??

I have a RAM street strip clutch, good for 500HP. Not stiff at all!

Give us some examples of manual transmission cars you have driven in the past…

That will help us tell if yours is stiff or normal.

I was comparing it to a 65 mustang with a 289 and a 2 barrel (completely stock)- the dart clutch is much stiffer.

Your left lag should get a good workout. My left leg is so huge that when I try to walk all I do is circles.

No but realy it should be pretty stiff.

Let's see; 63 VW, 67 Lemans, 84 Escort, 85 Turbo Daytona, 89 Shelby Daytona, the Barracuda with a /6 clutch, the Barracuda with a stock replacement sb clutch.

I have driven cars with clutches that are so stiff that my leg would shake after only a few seconds. The RAM is stiffer than some but is not an issue to deal with in stop and go traffic.
