OK, I trying to install the steel OEM (year One) fuel line, removing the rubber hose, on my 340. Does the steel line fitting screw directly into the fuel pump or is an adapter required?

Please advise.

Stock pump or aftermarket ?

Stock pump, the 5/16" fuel line screws directly into the outlet.

Aftermarket pumps usually need an adapter.

OK, then the pump on my car is incorrect. I tighten the nut all the way down and line is still flopping around. Any got a pic of the correct pump for the 340?

The pump currently in my car has a flat base and the lines screw into the side of the pump housing. The pump in 1972 Service Manual shows the pump has two cylinder like sections extruding down from the main pump and lines connect at the bottom of the cylinders on the side. I hope that makes sense.

This is a stock pump. Not the best pic,but it will give you an idea.
