I have a line on a 68 340 block that has been bored 40 over already.
Would this block be a good foundation for a build?
I know 60 over pistons are available.
The block will cost 300 and all that's included is the caps and it looks very clean.

Also I have a 73 318 that I could steal parts from like crank and rods from if that would work.

you need to take to block to a machine shop and have them sonic test the cyls. That will tell you if and what you can safely bore it. As mentioned in previous threads the 340 block is prone to core shift.

What is the cost of a sonic check at the machine shop?
Kind of taking a chance on the block if I purchase it I guess. I would still get it checked out just wondering worse case scenario price to install sleeves etc.

If you can, have it crack checked, magnafluxed. You don't know ,what's that block has been through.
