Hi, what heads are these? Casting number 341891, 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust. They are from my -68 340 and I was thinking are they worth doing a valvejob and new springs.

They are second 340 head (meaning they did not come on your 68 340).

But..... Now that they have 2.02 valves they are the same as the first 340 heads.

These are at the upper end of the factory offered heads and worth tossing a little money at.

those are J heads, you are just missing the 5 at the end of that number=3418915

If they are faxtory 2.02 intakes, yes they are 340 heads.

Some valves are pretty deep and couple of valvesprings are totally dead.. Eddies are too expencive for my budget so I have do those.

If the valves are "pretty deep", you'll need to put valve seats in. The worst thing one can do with a valve job is to sink the valves.

They can be later 360 heads that were opened up because the first 915's were cast for 340 T/A engines in 1970 and for the new-for-1971 360 engines.

Yes, valve seats, I didnt remember the word in english.. :salut: New valve seats will be like 500 euros... have to think about it.

ditto loco, and ask for the taller/wider seats, that will give you more short turn to work with when blending the bowl after the seats.

If these are original 2.02 heads you may have a set of 1970 340TA heads..well worth rebuiding...

They would be worth more to a restorer. No difference in the ports/castings besides relocated intake pushrod holes. Rocker arms would cost more than for regular heads because of the offset required on the intake.

Look closer. Your casting number should be 3418915 instead of 341891 unless you just missed a keystroke. To the best of my recollection the 68-70 340 heads had a casting number of 2531894.
The 915 heads with 2.02 valves were 70 only for the T/A and the 915 heads with 1.88 valves were 71-72 340 heads. The 73 340 heads had a casting number of 3671587

A lot of this information is out of the Mopar Chassis Guide which I would not recommend trying to get through life without. Ever!

Now here's my .02 cents. I would find out what they are for sure and sell them to the highest bidder. J-Heads will bring about a hundred bucks, X-Heads will bring about $250.00 and T/A heads will bring about a grand. There should be a date code on those heads somewhere.
Take the money from the sale and include what you would have spent for a valve job and buy a set of Iron Rams from Hughes. If it turns out you need valves springs and guides you'll be money ahead. For $850 bucks you get heads that out flow the J-X-T/A head as well as the Eddy. You get a 62cc chamber that'll raise your compression about a full point and then some too.
The site is down today for some reason but keep trying.

For not a lot more than a Valve Job you can get a set of Iron Rams

Yes, I found the missing number. So the castingnumber would be 3418915. Rebuilt cost´s alot of euros, I´ll put them back on as they are and keep saving money for new pair of heads. I Belive that they will get me thru next 2000 kilometres since the engine worked well before. Where could I find the date code??

There were a lot of 2.02 valves in 915 heads, most "71" 340's had 2.02 915 heads. 340's went to 1.88 intake valves when they dropped compression in "72".
