I'm fairly sure ALL 71+ 340's used thermoquads which have 2 different size intake holes due to the secondaries being larger on a TQ. In 70' 340's used a Carter AVS which this manifold is for (4 same size holes), i have no clue about the bypass hose thing though. There should be a date code on it somehwere i'd think...

Cannot be up , 71 was there first year of the spread bore .Checked my book it is correct for 70 model year. Great buy Jack , i would take it but already have two.
