We were ready to drop the 340 in my '67 Barracuda yesterday, or so we thought. I had removed the motor mount brackets from the old 273, cleaned them up real nice and painted them only to discover that they don't fit. I drove over to a friend who has a couple 318 Barracudas. It seems the brackets off the 273 are different from both 340 and 318. The 340 came out of an E body and they are very different.
I've done some searching and see where some people say just to use 318 brackets and shim the driver's side. That seems a little like the cheap way out, and not the best solution. There is an ebay seller named Tallzag selling Schumacher conversion kits for $149.99. Schumacher Creative Services sells a kit for $129.00 + $13.00 shipping.
I'm looking for anyone's experience and or recommendations. I'm leaning toward Schumacher's kit. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.
