Hey guys. Just curious what all is required to remove the stock oil pan on a 340 in a 73 Dart sport to put on a new gasket.

jack the car up, remove the right inner tie rod end and the left outer tie rod end, remove the idler arm bolt, and move the centerlink and linkage to the driver's side until its out of the way (may have to turn the steering wheel). Once that is removed, you may or may not have to raise the engine slightly and pull the transmission sheilds to get it off of there.

Its really not that hard.

undo the bolts, remove oil pan, remove gasket, replace gasket and put stuff back together in the oppose order of removal (assuming the motor isn't in the car).

Don't forget to swear a lot when you bang up your fingers.

Of course it's in the car. If it's on a stand and you don't know how to get the pan off you probably shouldn't be near it. I was just curious if the engine would have to be jacked up like with some of the big blocks.
