I have an nos over the parts counter 340 short block. Visually the only thing different is the little hole in the block that was drilled for the rivet and the tag. I have access to nos warranty tags and rivets. The block is date 72 but i need to get exact casting numbers (can't remember). The internal are 100% 70/71. Forged crank ( factory drilled for 4spd), correct pistons, compression ratios floating wrist pins. Factory installed cam bearings, frost plugs etc. Blank serial number boss. Let me know if you're interested and I'll get pics and discuss further. This is how it came right out of mother mopars parts department. Never installed..definitely a well seasoned short block assembly. I have nos piston rings to insure ring tension if concerned and definitely would recommend disassemble for lubing and a clean for piece of mind.

I have a '70 warranty short-block, located in Michigan. Will have to check/confirm date.

Super cool as I concern is my duster built on jan 7th 1970 so I was told should be with in a year apart order " matching date" otherwise looking forward to this but I have no plans to do full restoration deal so least do the best as to drive enjoy as it is.

I have a 340 block casted 1/15/71...no stampings under the driver's head, and no vin stamp. I imagine it was a over the counter block. It was bored .030 at one time, but not run. My machine shop recommended going to .040. I have new pistons for it...and a NOS steel crank... would not be cheap

Here is casting date and part number for the '70 short-block I have.
