I have a 70 340 40 over 9.5 to one pistons j heads with 2.08 intakes 160 ex. ported polished roller rockers port matched air gap intake 780 holly all new . all work done by a great racing engine builder . but it is not running up to par . I pulled and changed the plugs twice and some are lean some are rich never seen this before . I don't know why some would be rich and some lean . ??????

What is your ignition system? Vacuum or mechanical carb? What plugs and heat range?

Can you attach pics of the plugs?

Could be as simple as the carb idle mixture adjustments are improperly balanced. You'd be surprised at how little of a difference it takes in the adjustment to soot up plugs. BTW: the RPM intake is great at making power but every one I've owned has ran somewhat richer on #1 cylinder than all other cylinders

all msd ignition mechanical dist. 780 holly vac. rn12yc champion plugs
