A week ago i bought a 1973 dodge dart swinger with a built/transplanted 360 motor i looked at the block and the nubers cased into the drivers side are__4008830-360 and the passenger side has a large 6 in the rear of the motor and the front has 5-7-78 so from what ive read that means it is a 360 block and was built in May 7th of 1978.

Ok so getting to the point i was under the car addressing some tranny issues and seen the numbers 343 stamped into the oil pan in large inch long letters and in a smaller stamp the numbers 388S082 are stamped into it as well. Can anyone tell me what this means>? I would also like to know what all the other letters on the block mean too......any help apriciated..... :-D

i think the number means its a a body pan i have a new 343 pan that still has the tag from 86 when purchased and its a 318/340 pan a-body
