i am getting my motor back from the machine shop soon. it will be rated at around 360 horse. bored .30 over with oversized pistons a comp cam dual plane edelbrock manifold and a 600cfm carb. it will backed by a stock a833 4speed and the open rear diff. i was wondering how it will do on the street. i dont know the gear ratio or tire size yet. its all stock for now. i am looking to get decent hiway mileage but still be able to tear up the streets. what ratio should i look for and what size tires for the "14 rally wheels i am trying to get. just kinda wanting to see if this will be a good set up or what. this is my first hot rod build lol=P~

Sounds like it will be fun on the street! Anything over 200 h.p with a stick shift is always 'fun' in my book! One thing though: Mileage and tearing up the streets dont go together. Its either one or the other. Depending on tire size and gear ratio,if you can get set up with good timing and dial in your carb, coupled with tame driving habits, you should see fairly decent m.p.g's for a V-8 muscle car! But if you drive like the:snakeman: I have a feeling your m.p.g's might suffer. My .02

The 360 in my 68 Barracuda is making approximately 370 HP. I have an A833OD 4spd tranny and 3.55 gears with 27" tall rear tires. I am getting 17-18 mpg back and forth to work on back roads and 21-22 mpg on the hiway.

This mileage comes from the overdrive tranny and careful tuning of the carb. I am using a 670 Street Avenger.

3.55 gears and Mopar Sure Grip is the first thing you need to get unless you like just burning rubber. I doubt the car will hook. lol

ya. i am saving my pennies for a sure grip. my blazer is my daily driver right now and i get about 15mpg so close to that is cool with me. ya i am figuring i am gonna go thru that tire quick lol. but 3.55 gears will have a little of both? mpgs and low end?

It would be capable of running 12's if you get it to hook up.

Forget gas mileage. It will probably be awful. On the bright side, you'll have such a big, stupid grin on your face, you won't care.
