I recently took my 360 off my engine stand and installed it in a 1979 Aspen RT. The information sheet for the new headers said to remove the oil filter for additional clearance during installation. Didn't seem complicated until I tried to put a filter back on. The Mopar filter with its 3 1/2" diameter won't fit around the header tubes. Does anyone have a listing and/or a part number for something with a smaller diameter?

Fram 3600.
I don’t use fram but back when I did not know about oil filter adapters I used that number to cross to a good filter.
That was when fram was a good company. It’s like the same length and filter specs but skinner.

I used to run Fram filters years ago but
the last 10/15 years I had problems with
them. I use a Mopar Filter wherever it
fits. I get them at Walmart.

I had a case of Fram PH8 filters. Used them for years. No issues. Now that their gone I use Wix or Walmart Mopar filters. Maybe you can cross reference the Fram 3600 and get better quality.

Who is the header manufacturer & what filter did you have? Would a shorter filter provide adequate clearance? There are more options.

The headers are Flow Tech from Holley , part #13100. The oil filter is Mopar # MO-090 from Summit. The oil filter is 3.33" in diameter and won't go in. Shorter won't help since the diameter is the issue. Thankyou for any advice !!!

I'm surprised that they don't offer any information on possible oil filter fit issues or options/solutions. A 90* adapter has been a solution in some header applications but I avoided using them.

My old 2.2 Turbos used a small diameter filter. Somewhere along time I started using the larger style short Mopar filrer. The threads and seal were compatible. Look up 87 Chrysler 2.2 Turbo. I don't like using small filters, sometime you just do what you have to.

I used the transdapt filter relocation kit on my 360. It keeps the filter up and out of the way of the header. It's mounted to the rear of the passenger side inner fender. I can use whatever filter I want now.

I have used a Napa 1348, it is shorter and smaller diameter. I think that is the filter used on the 2.2 engine

Remember that scenario working for a Dodge dealer in the 70's, Ah the good ole days ! Bad news is the " F Body "has no space there either.

First off thankyou to all of you for your responses and advice. The first reply mentioned a Fram #PH3600. I have a Wallmart close,so the $4.00 seemed like a safe gamble. I'm not really a fan of Fram, but this fits and gives me a good place to start. Will replace soon ! I like the remote filter shown in a later post and will look into it. Again thankyou to everyone !

No , these are Flow Tech from Holley. Looking around a little I'm not sure the hoses to the filter base will clear these headers .

I would try to replace that Fram, if you can. Cut one open and you'll see why. No disrespect to the Fram guys.

I've heard all the facts about them and as stated I agree with most. The engine hasn't been started , and as soon as we get through the initial warm up and camshaft seating it will get changed. Likely with the Napa Gold you guys described.

I put a stroked 360 in my ‘65 Barracuda with TTI long tubes. Had to use an oil filter adapter. Works great and super easy to get to (under front passenger floorboard now)

I’m with the guys that suggested a 90 degree adapter .
That looks like a perfect solution to your situation .
And it will get that filter can away from the tube .

It looks like it is almost touching the tube now,,,that is a lot of heat transfer to the oil there .
