383 sitting for yrs what to do

My friend just bought a 66 belvedare 383 and it hasn't ran since 07 what would you do with the engine other than plug, oil, fuel filter, drain the tank, antifreeze,


And how do I prime the engine is it the same tool as the small block?

I would just check the fluid levels, dump some fresh gas down the carb and fire it up! I have started cars this way before that have been sitting way longer than that.

ok and what size carb should a 383 have it has headers, edel single plane intake, dual exhaust and electronic ignition

My guess would be a 750 cfm carb

fire that pig up let it idle for 30 seconds do a burn out screw the brakes

4 years is nothing, I have fired them up after 15 years & after the lifters wake up its all good, we did prime the oil pump & hooked up fresh gas & it came to life.
