3spd to 4spd

Picked up a 23spline 4speed. Going to put it into my 74 duster currently has a 3 speed my bellhousing has both bolt holes. Are the tailshaft splines the same between a 68 833 and the 3speed trans? Also is the bellhousing hole the same between a 833 and 3 speed, if i remember right you need a different bell for a 833od.

Just trying to get my ducks in a row when I swap it out.
 
If your bell is drilled for both it will work with just a trans. swap. On the drive shaft it will be the same if the 4 speed is an a body trans. The yoke however will be different unless you have an early 4 speed with the small output shaft that is the same as a 904. The later 4 speed has the same yoke as a 727.
 
This trans is a 30 spline output, but just realized it has a B body tailshaft... Should have looked closer when I bought it. Gotta source the correct tail. Current tail serial no is C-96707J (it has the mounting pad infront of the crossmember mount)
 
wonderful. I was afraid of that, suppose I can change the mainshaft too. Brewers has both the parts I need.
