i have a 318, changing over to a 4 bbl intake and carb an i just want to make sure im getting the right thing to finish this. what is everyone using for gasket/spacer between carb(holley) and intake(performer) combo's. car quest has a kit that includes spacer, gasket, studs for like $40. just want to do it all right the first time. thanks.

I like either the Holley 108-18 or Holley 108-12.

It is a 5/16" gasket which is pretty good for heat. No base gasket's necessary.

108-18 is for a dual plane
108-12 is for a single plane, and comes with the studs.
I usually use the proper length bolts/washers from the hardware store to hold the carb down.
Do a google on either one.

$40 bucks for a spacer and gasket is to much. A phenolic spacer, gaskets, studs go for around $20 on the bay,if you want to go that route. Be careful on hood clearance.

I went with a 1" spacer made by Spectre. It's an aluminum base with some sort of thermoplastic inserts (one open, one four-hole). I'm running the four-hole insert on my 318. Seems like it was ~$25 at a local retail establishment.
