While rebuilding my 400, which doesn't appear to have been rebuilt ever before, I noticed that the old main bearing shells have 001 stamped on the backs. Not .001" just 001. The rod shells don't. Does that mean that the original main journals were cut .001" undersize? Or is it just some other bearing shell marking.? I will mike the journals today.
