Don't post much here, looked around on first few pages of tech forum and fuel/air forum and didn't see a thread on this (if there is one please fwd me to it)...I'm looking for opinions on running a traditional set up (carb) on a 408 v. FI. This will be a street/strip car, planning on roughly 500HP & 500lbs of torque, hoping to use 3.91's.

I'm looking for opinions on the overall performance differences in general and the ultimate pros & cons of if the extra cost of an FI system is worth it, b/c let's face it a FI system will cost more than a traditional carb set up.

I'm not much of a FI guy so any info on any manufacturers would be great, IE: does anyone make a complete kit to do this sort of upgrade, or is there a lot of customization involved/mixing & matching of different components etc?

Also clearance under the hood, I plan on this being a sleeper look and am hoping to run a completely flat hood either way, is that possible if going the FI route?

Thanks in advance.

One thing I can tell you is the throttle bodies I have are shorter than a carb. There are several full on self tuning systems, as well as speed density styles, F.A.S.T., Big Stuff 3 and a few others. Depending on your set up there is also a mass air system that is based on a Ford EEC system http://www.mass-floefi.com/ . They all have there pros & cons. A good guy to talk to is http://www.fastmanefi.com/ , he is a member here also....

Thanks for the tip, I will consult with him.
