Looking for a new or used set of 4.350 or bigger with a compression distance of 1.50 give or take a few thousands. I have 1.340 cd and 1.774 cd to trade as well. These have .990 pins. Thanks. Kim

I have a dozen sets of 440 Pistons = many new sets.
I will check the compression deck. You are running
1/2 stroker?
If I have them they will not cost you much at all!

No luck!
All my 1/2 440 Strokers are CD 1.66 to 1.7

You must run a 7.1 rod or longer?

I run stock length rods.

My crank is 4.25 stroke. Rods are 6.8 .990 pins and Chevy size big end. Piston cd is 1.774 13-1 with a 75cc head and .040 gasket. I would like to get down to right around 11-1

I will try to remeasure mine.
Maybe I made a mistake = I had two
23 month old Grandkids with me.

I am confused:
A 1/2 inch stroker with a 1.5 Comp. deck
would be about Zero deck with a 7.1 Rod
according to what I calculated in a 440 block.

Can someone check my math and help me out?

No, a 4.5 stroke and 1.340 cd is very close to zero deck with a 7.100 rod. A 4.25 crank and a 1.5 cd is pretty much 0 deck. I could also be wrong. Kim

A 4.25 and a 1.5 CD is near Zero with a 7.1 Rod was what I calculated
with 7.1 rod? I run stock length rods which are about .340 shorter therefore
1.68 to 1.7 = I think.

I will remeasure them again this week,

I measured Wrist pin hole to top of flat of piston top and then added 1/2 of pin diameter
1.09 divided by 1/2 =.545.

Am I doing this right???

I had written on top of the box the bore and stroke of the engine they were
in and deck height. I do not remember how much I cut off the deck of block as
it was years ago but I know I cut some off it.

10.725" 440 Deck Height

-7.100" Rod Length

-2.125" 1/2 the stroke on 4.25"

On my engine I ran Hemi length custom rods
I will remeasure everything in a day or two.
I wrote on top of box 440 with 1/2 inch stroke
I cut the deck some but i do not remember how much.
The Hemi rods are about .100 Longer ( I do not remember anymore )?

Kim, what does your 1.774 piston look like? Flattop, dish, or what? if a flat top, maybe a dish could be machined in, or take a slice off part of the piston head, and leave the quench side of the piston alone.
If it's a dome (it would have to be a small one) machine the dome off.

I’ll find a pic. I think .040 could be machined off safely. First 3 pics are the pistons that came in my 543 kit. 1.34 cd and a 26.7 cc dish. The next pics are the 505 pistons. 1.774 cd. I got my .040 from measuring the 543 piston thickness of the dish. The 505 pistons are .040 thicker if that make sense to u. Kim

The 505 piston tops are roughed up cause the old man that was gonna ceramic coat the tops. Sadly he passed away b4 he could do the ceramic coating. I got these from his son. Kim

That answers that question then. A stock Hemi rod is 6.86" long, but uses a 1.031" wrist pin.

So you had custom 6.86" long Hemi rods with a 1.094" 440 size wrist pin in them.

10.725" 440 Deck Height

-6.86" Rod Length

-2.125" 1/2 the stroke on 4.25"

.055" in the hole, so John must have cut the block .055" to get it to a Zero deck height.
