440 value

-
Sight unseen, conditions and history unknown- I would not pay more than scrap metal prices.

Paid $300 for a complete 400 minus carb, that turned over, I would not be afraid to drop it in something and fire it up.
Traded a cast 360 4" stroker crank for a 69 440 HP standard bore bare block.

$50 - $200 for it complete. $400 if its tore down for inspection if its a standard bore good block. we paid $250 for this forged crank engine and the crank was cut wrong. block was broke and needed to be welded. So that said they are all a crap shoot if they are together.

The picture of the oil pan should show the lack of experience in assembly things were over tightened just a tad. they broke three tabs off of the block for the water pump housing. The adjustable rockers and the pistons made up the the loss of some parts they ruined. So no matter what they look like on the outside it is the inside that counts.

it was clean sold it for $650 had 8 people wanting to buy it
Was gonna say those saying 200 bucks or less must live in an area where 440 cores are plentiful cause around here, 800-1200 for a core that turns over is norm, bare blocks that are usable seem to go for 400 minimum

As a seller it's worth as much as you can get and as a buyer as little as you can give.
