6.1 crate sump

Removed the factory sump today and was surprised to see this!!
I assume the engine has been ran briefly at the factory, but to what extent i don`t know.
Is this normal??
Should i be worried??

My crate engine was fully oiled when I received it. ...but I guess you're referring to the "patina" on the sump?

It`s hard to see in the photo but that darker areas are actually fine iron filings just like silver paint.
I`m assuming it`s metal particles from the run testing at the factory.(if they do it)
Did yours have any residue on the bottom of the sump?

That's the engine break in lube and some of the start up material that comes with a fresh engine.

My oil colour was lighter...I guess that's the first thing I noticed in your pic.

Mine may not have been run in as thoroughly........just a thought....its hard to make a call.
