im new to these classics and have got a 71 duster im slowly picking away at. im in the process of accumulating all the parts i need for my resto... both front and rear rails, complete floor pan trans xmember... anyways, ive read that there are v8 and /6 k frames, and torsion bars? im not familiar with these what so ever. if anyone could chime in on what ill be looking at to swap out and to fit and hold the v8 under the hood thatd be great. its a non power steering car if that matters.

The K frame supports the engine and lower suspension components. The torsion bars run from behind the lower control arms to the transmission support members. Does your car not have an engine?

73+ spool K members, which are superior to the older style; less prone to ripping engine mounts, sway bar goes through the k member, etc. But the older style has cheaper motor mounts, that you don't have to spend a mint to either buy, or fabricate conversion mounts, and you can swap from a slant to a v8 with your eyes closed.

ALSO, look up 'k-frame reinforcement' for prone issues you need to fix before you get serious with either style.

Frame connectors!

1"+ torsion bars, unless this is a drag-mobile, then /6 bars are what you want.

If your into cornering these can do it well with carefully selected parts.

Do some searching and you will find your answer. Welcome!
