I have a 1960 Valiant wagon, and I would like to install A/C in the car. As many of us know, 1961 was the first year dealer-installed A/C became an option for these cars.
Does anyone have a 61 or 62 valiant with dealer-installed A/C? I have no idea what the interior unit looks like and would like to take a look at one.
I also have a problem I would need to solve in order to do this: most 60 Valiants had the alternator sitting atop the water-pump, compared to 1961+ when the alternator was moved to the opposite side of the engine, freeing up the space it occupied for an A/C compressor.
I don't want to move my alternator and change the engine bay sheetmetal to be able to accept a side-mounted alternator: I'd rather put the compressor over there on the side, or somehow come up with a different place to locate it. If anyone has a spiffy idea, please let me know.
