63 Dart speedo interchange Q

The case in a nutshell; speedometer started making noises and the odometer got stuck in between 6999 and 7000, took the cable out, inspected (ok) and lubed. Stayed quiet for a day, then the noise started again, odometer not working anymore. Then the needle got wild and broke off.
There is a working unit from a 65 Valiant I can have for nothing.

Does anyone know for sure if these speedos interchange? Of course, I will see when I pull the cluster but it'd make things easier if I knew beforehand.

Any insight would be appreciated

Since both speedometers are round, the Valiant just may be able to work. You might have to trim the part the numbers are on just a little to fit. Since you can get the 65 for little or nothing, it's worth a shot at it. Or send your speedometer out and get it repaired. Let us know how it works out!

I might have a spare 63 speedo and dash, and I'm going to need to find a 65 Valiant speedo! Maybe we can swap, then neither of us has to convert anything! Let's compare anyhow, for all I know they're identical...

No, a '65 Valiant item will not fit. Interchange is '63-'64 Dart.

Thanks Dan, I was afraid so. Just an idea, are the mechanisms the same? Could swap the speedo face then...

I have a 63 Speedo I'm pretty sure. Then you'll have an original.
