My cable is making a click click click noise at low speed
The speedometer is working fine same with odometer. No bouncing of needle.
The noise of course speeds up then slows down with car speed.
Question: how in the heck do ya remove cable from back of cluster to inspect or lube?
I crawled under there and was able to see it and barely get my hand on it … it appears to not be loose.
Is there a way to pull cluster forward for access to rear?
Ive read that it may need lubrication like dry graphite.

67 should have a screw on end that looks like the end on the transmission but smaller.

On my dart I can (just barely) unscrew the end and once it's free it's not hard to pull it to the side.

Removing the drivers seat is a huge help. It's only 4 nuts

From there you can pull the inner cable out.

Remove the trans end of the outer housing will make things easier.

You may need to spray some cleaner down the housing (be carefully about the type of cleaner that it is comparable with the housing)

Then clean and lube the inner cable.

Thanks for advise
Yes on the front seat. I just had it out to redo interior/ Bulkhead connector and put in new refurbished steering column. That was before total knee replacement I had done like 8 weeks ago. Ugh was hoping I could get around not monkeying around under dash again. 67 and feeling it oh well gotta bite the bullet

The proper lubricant is a light grease. When out check to see if you have bad cable. If needed (very common) a speedo shop can make you a new one.

have the Scamp back in the transmission shop today. The trans is leaking from tail shaft speedometer entrance and pan. Had the shop put a deep pan speed master aluminum with ATI synthetic fluid F type.
Drove the car home last week and my garage was covered with trans fluid.
The shift now seems to lost that hard shift positive jump forward and chirp the tires. Now no tire chirp or hard shift?
I guess murphy is back following me around as usual. What the hek hopefully all things Scamp will.work.out. 2800 stall torque converter. Shift kit
Any ideas go back to regular trans fluid
Trans mechanic acts like the car shifts fine .. I asked the trans mechanic to get my positive shift back ... doesn't listen to me I'm screwed

I had both replaced at the same time 2 years ago The best thing I ever did. My knees are not perfect but I can walk as long as I want to now. and stand as long as I want to. 8 Weeks is VERY new so give it time and DO YOUR EXERCISES, think like the pro foot ball players.

After mine I was determined to get to Good Guys show (1 week posts surgery) and I did for 1 hour on Saturday and all day IIRC on Sunday , my wife said I was being a dick :realcrazy: on the opioids so that stopped, one week and no pain meds other than Ibuprofen.

Driving the next week and doing the PT and exercises and stretching. My doc was big on riding a stationary bike so that was 20 min per day 3-4 times a day.

Sorry for the highjack

Back to the cars

do you have the kick down / Throttle position linkage attached and adjusted correctly. its imposable to tell if the trans shop did anything else to the trans while the pan was off

Yeah I don't what they did and I wouldn't be able to tell looking at the linkage?
I'm mad i lost my hard shift
And I'm glad your mobile

If the floor was covered with fluid did you refill the transmission? Leak from the speedometer cable still? There are seals available.

You will more likely have broken a strand on the cable which is flicking around causing the noise. Fix is a new inner cable.
If you need a new cable, try Brewer's. They're good people to deal with. Since they depend on the Mopar community for their business, I'd trust them to sell you decent stuff as opposed to parts store junk. I got an NOS cable from them a few years ago, but they aren't showing one for a '67.

My point is if the kick down linkage was not adjusted correctly you might have had full pressure shifts under all throttle positions.

But if the linkage is now adjusted correctly than part throttle shifts will be soft but full throttle shifts will be firmer.

I would think you can ask the tech what exactly they did with our pointing any fingers.

Update on the Speedo cable
So I got it out and the inner cable looked fine so I cleaned it and lubed it with White Lithium grease… no noise now
Boom
Gotta love these old cars
Took the seat out of course and there was a linkage bracket on the Trans that had to be taken off to access the Cable connection
