64 A Body rear axle dimensions

Yes. However, you will need the mounting hardware, i.e.: shock plates and u-bolts, from an 8 3/4 as the axle tubes are larger diameter than the original 7 1/4. Your driveshaft will need shortened or replaced as well.

If you get an 8 3/4" from a 1970 and later car, the brake line distribution block was moved down onto the tube and requires a different line set, and probably a longer hose!! I ran into this on my build as have many others!! Also as Brad says above!!! Geof

I understand you will need to use the emergency brake cables for the 7 1/4 rear- haven't got to that part yet and i ordered new replacement ones????

That's great news, I have a complete Duster 83/4 with springs and 10" brake system including lines. Should be a direct bolt in. Any one know the driveshaft length with a 904 tranny?

The bone stock shaft in my convertible is 49 5/8" from the center of the rear cup to the center of the front cup of the u-joints!

Hooking on the very rear of the shaft itself, on the rounded area that makes up the u-joint cup, to the very front of the rounded edge that makes up the front u-joint cup is 51"!

Hope this helps, Geof
