64 dodge dart what to do!

well one thing I might do is use this car to practice on for what little work I need to do on my Duster.

no pictures to post, but I did try and get the car running this weekend, no luck yet. Turns over fine and carb seems to be ok, at least no leaks. Doesn't seem to be getting spark though. Not sure how to test the coil but I did check the ballast resistor and it measured 1.4 ohms. Not sure yet what it's supposed to read. Didn't do alot of testing on the distributor but cap and rotor look good as do the points. I need to get me some feeler gauges though, mine have gone missing. Also need to check the voltage regulator out. Took the alternator to the parts store and had it checked. Tested good.

Car hasn't run in about 17 years so I imagine there will be electrical problems from sitting. Only the taillights come on and It seems to have alot of grounding issues. But the wireing visually looks to be in good shape. I did notice that the blower moter works :)

I'll keep posting on progress as I go, I hope to get it running first before I do any other repairs, I'd like to be able to drive it at least once!

does the rotor turn? or can you turn the rotor with the cap off? this was the first thing we looked at when working on the old Valiants from the gas company. of course, that was after another student figured out the plastic gear broke, then everybody knew to look there first.
