Can anyone tell me what this is? All I know is that it looks like crap and rides like crap too. I'd like to replace them with a "formula S" equivalent set of springs, stock ride height and all. The car is a stock 273 2bbl. If I'm ordering from JohnRSprings or ESPO what do I tel them I need? Thanks!

That's a cheezy "helper spring" added as a futile attempt to force some arch into a sagging spring pack. Mostly ugly dead weight.

You probably have the right idea by ordering a new set of HD springs. By the time you remove your current springs, have them re-arched and press in new bushings, you would be time and money ahead to just replace them. Also you can upgrade to HD springs that will hold up better without sagging and improve handling (if you add HD front torsion bars and/or a front sway bar).

Ya, just call ESPO or JohnRSprings and let 'em know what your car is. You will have a choice of four or five leaf. Both yield the same ride height (within a few fractions of an inch) I put four leaf on my Valiant and five on the Barracuda and sitting together you see no difference. Don't forget to order new rear shackles at the same time as the springs don't come with new bushings in the back. I've also bought the springs from JC Whitney and they ship directly from JohnR.

I have a pair of Mopar Performance extra heavy duty (XHD) springs that are in decent shape that came from my 64 Barracuda. I could sell them to you for $50. I work in Fort Lee and could bring them there and meet you. If you are interested send me a PM.

These will sit around stock ride height evenly on both sides? I'm rolling on 13's and I don't want the car to look worse than it already does. Imagine the car jacked up 1 or 2 inches with tiny 185/80/13's.

I may be slow but I finally got it done. Thanks to 684mulas for the springs, they are just what I was looking for. The car sits and rides great with all new everything (springs, shocks, shackles, bolts, etc). The car handles sooooo much better. Can't wait to tackle the front some year.

Oh, and I'm finally rolling on 14's too.

Good to hear that your getting it all together. It looks good! It just so happens that I bought too many parts when I was getting my 68 together. I have all of the front end parts you would need to upgrade from your 9" drums to 10" (it actually makes a big difference in stopping). I have new moog upper and lower ball joints, upper contol arm bushings (installed), spindles, drums, and backing plates.

Let me know if you are interested. Send me a PM and we can work something out. Dave
