I have 3 different fiberglass hoods with different hoodscoops for a '65 Dart. Don't want to buy new or rehab beat up mouldings. Does anyone have an idea for a cheaper substitution for the trim. This is for a race only car so the hoods will be coming off between rounds and need to sturdy. Thanks

You could have someone make a mold from a good set and pour a set in hardened resin. Would need to make sure to place the bolts in the right spot when casting them. Then can be installed/painted and weigh a little less than the originals.

Out of curiosity, where did you find a fiberglass hood for your '65?

I've used the stick-on chrome stipping on those. I got a roll at O'Reillys/Kragen. It doesn't quite stick out as far as the factory metal mouldings but looks a lot better than nothing at all. You need to get the wide stuff like what you would use for side moundings. The chrome holds up pretty good for 3-4 years and then kinda turns dull. The rolls are pretty cheap so you could just strip the old and put another new set on in a few minutes.
