I'm the proud new owner of a 1965 Dart 270 wagon and I wasn't anticipating running into this problem.... I can't find the damn hood release latch anywhere. When I bought the car the hood was already popped so I gave it no thought. Now that it's home and in trying to get it running I'm perplexed. Looked behind the grill, inside and around the driver's seat. Now I'm not a total idiot, and I own a '70 Dart and a '66 Valiant so I should have been able to open the hood you would think. Surely it's missing from the car, right? So, where is the hood release normally located? Thanks FABO, and some bonus pics included cause wagons are the bee's knees.

Oh, cool car BTW! Can you push down on the hood and unlatch it with the lever off to the side of the catch? Sell me that 1 front Rallye....:) look at part 15-11-5 off to right of latch, I think that is the lever that unlocks it, then the hook is the safety.

Thanks! I'll give it a try. Where are you located? I've got about 10 rallye wheels probably only gonna use 4 haha

The release is right of centerline (standing facing the grille) and is just behind and below the chrome trim on the front edge of the hood. There is a little lever an inch long you pull downward, though if it's stuck you may need to press down on the hood slightly. Then when the hood pops pup you can reach underneath the hood left of centerline and there's a lever you press upward to release it the rest of the way. Congratulations on your cool car and good taste!

Thanks to your help I got the hood open! Good thing I have skinny fingers. Now to get the ancient 273 running again, it's been on non op for 14 years. Here's a bad pic of the engine.

Oh, it'll run, you can count on it! 14 years is nothing. Keep us posted.
