66 dart inner fender question

Taking the front end off of my 66 dart to do some frame repair and have a question. Are the inner fenders supposed to be spot welded? Mine are pretty rusty at the seams but i think can see a few spot welds here and there and for some reason i dont think they should be.
( i could be wrong so im asking)

If so how do you remove them?

They are spot welded in across the bottom, down the front and back. In order to remove them you need to locate and drill out all the spot welds. And in addition to the spot welds there is one or two spots along the rear of the bottom that have welds on the edge.

taking them out severely compromises the structural integrity of the car, I would make sure you brace it before you remove them.
