66 dart vert quick flip

so my kid (13)watches this u-tube guy that finds cars/trucks that have been sitting for 50/60/70 years and gets them running
so he asked if we can do that ....said sure ,found this 66 vert on fb local
figure he can play with it ,make it run,stop ,go clean ,new top and sell
let him take the $$ and invest in another ,more of a learning thing
might even rebuild the trans ,just to teach him
so today was the first time i realy looked at it
hood was so rusted couldn't even open it ,put new hood on it
seen dist cap is off ,gas smells ..bad..engine isn't stuck...no keys..bought a door set and ignition
if its nice this weekend will start clean-up and working on it

so it was nice saturday
had the jerk vacuum up some of the 66 inside stinks like mold ,so gave him a mask
he found a new dist and ballast res in the car
then pulled the plugs ,put some trans fluid in the cylinders ,it turns but feels tight in a few spots
hooked up a battery hit it with the start jumper ...nothing but grind
had him pull the starter ..looked new....ring gear looks ok ?
